The last of the victims of a gunman’s racist attack on Black people at a Buffalo supermarket has been memorialized at a funeral service that became a call to action.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Vice-President Kamala Harris attended the funeral for 86-year-old Ruth Whitfield — the oldest of the 10 people killed in a racist attack at a Buffalo supermarket on May 14.Mourners laid to rest the last of 10 Black people killed in a racist attack at a Buffalo supermarket with a service on Saturday that became a call to action and an emotional plea to end the hate and violence that has wracked the nation.

"This is a moment that requires all good people, all God-loving people to stand up and say we will not stand for this. Enough is enough," said Harris, who wasn’t scheduled to speak and came to the microphone at the urging of the Rev. Al Sharpton. "We will come together based on what we all know we have in common, and we will not let those people who are motivated by hate separate us or make us feel fear.

"Let’s have an assault weapons ban," she said. "An assault weapon is a weapon of war with no place, no place in civil society.

Civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who delivered a fiery tribute to Whitfield at the beginning of the funeral service, called for all "accomplices" who aided and abetted "this monster" who opened fire in the supermarket to be held accountable, from the gun manufacturers and distributors to the parents of the suspect.

VP Harris Expected at Last Buffalo Shooting Victim's FuneralThe last of the victims of a gunman’s racist attack on a Buffalo supermarket will be laid to rest Saturday. At 86, Ruth Whitfield was the oldest of the 10 people killed. Civil rights activist Rev. Al Sharpton is expected to deliver her eulogy at a service attended by Vice President Kamala Harris. Whitfield was inside the Tops Friendly Market after visiting her husband of 68 years in a nursing home when an 18-year-old gunman opened fire May 14. He is charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bail. Did she go to the funerals of any Waukesha victims? No? Hmmmmm Don’t expect her to do the same for Uvalde. A little to close to visiting the border for her liking.

Vice President Harris to attend memorial for victim of Buffalo grocery store massacreVice President Kamala Harris will attend a memorial service on Saturday for one of the victims of the May 14 mass shooting at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York. Why Uvalde? They say that if you train twice as many hours in a flight simulator, without ever having flown a real flight, in an emergency, having to fly a 747 mid-flight, you'll be able to land it very well. Our kids, from childhood, start training to kill people in video games. Why would someone invite her to their child's funeral?! She's going to make it all about her and politics Black people commit over 52% of the violent crimes in the US. Why not go to the communities of black people and help to heal the wounds that inflict their community so they don't think their only hope is to commit such atrocities against their fellow men/women.
