Matt Hardy in Talks With AEW and WWE After Hitting Free Agency

Hardy’s AEW contract expired earlier this month and he opted not to renew it, choosing to enter free agency instead. Speaking on his podcast"The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy " on Friday, the wrestler said that he has been in talks with both AEW and WWE recently.Hardy said, as transcribed by Fightful

. “Yes, I have been speaking with AEW constantly. I have been speaking with WWE. I have been speaking with several people across several different platforms. So I think the next couple weeks are gonna be fun, the next few weeks are gonna be fun. As I said before, I think we’re getting to the point where we’re gonna be doing some pretty cool stuff coming up.”In December,he experienced “a lot of frustration” with how he and his brother Jeff had been used in AEW.

Matt Hardy made his AEW debut in March 2020, and Jeff joined the promotion two years later. The brothers formed one of the most celebrated tag teams of their era, winning eight tag team championships during their time in WWE.
