Massachusetts on Tuesday followed California in suing Uber Technologies Inc and Lyft Inc over allegedly misclassifying their drivers as independent contractors instead of employees entitled to extensive benefits.

“Uber and Lyft have built their billion-dollar businesses while denying their drivers basic employee protections and benefits for years,” Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey said in a statement. Massachusetts’ lawsuit comes roughly two months after California filed a similar complaint, accusing Uber and Lyft of evading workplace protections and withholding worker benefits under a new state law intended to protect workers in the so-called gig economy.Massachusetts is also seeking a court order declaring that ride-hail drivers are employees. But unlike in California, the Massachusetts labor laws the companies are alleged to violate went into effect in 2004.

?not subcontractors there is a difference

Uber and Lyft are easy targets Massachusetts, go for the bunch of office employees exploited in the private sector, you have plenty of them under the LLC umbrella

How they got along with contractor status this long is mond boggling

Uber and Lyft should be abolished in Boston they ruin the city. There is not 1 uber driver that should be licensed to drive.
