Brazil great Marta put her name in the record books once again, scoring from the penalty spot against Italy to become the most prolific scorer in World Cup finals history

Her 17th Women's World Cup goal secured a 1-0 win and saw her overtake Germany's Miroslav Klose as the outright leading scorer in either the men's or women's version of the tournament.

Marta, a six-time FIFA Player of the Year and widely regarded as the greatest female to have played the game, celebrated by kissing her boot.

Fun fact. She would score zero goals in the men’s World Cup .

Penalty inesistente!

Stop trying erase Men's World Cup Football history . She scored goals in the Woman's World Cup. Dallas under15's best the USA team 4-1 just before the finals. That tells you the level the Women are at.

😒

Constantly referencing the mens game for relevance, klose is a better player than any womens player ever, just to clear things up.

Problem is when boys teams hammer women’s world champions it does make you question the standard a little

Standards

Women's world cup* You can't compare the men's game to this shite. Apples and oranges. Some garbage like thailand mens u19's would beat any women's team in the world

Hahahahaha comparing this to men's WC now are we? Hahahahahaha. No

Sam Kerr is like Ronaldo, great goal scorers. But Marta is like Messi and Neymar, magicians when they control the ball. Hard not to admire her skill set.

How about Sam Kerr?

Different sport..

Wait a mo! Try that again

G.O.A.T

Pretty sure Miroslav Klose faced more consistent competition that Marta. Great accomplishment for her but if you don't want to be compared, stop comparing.

World Cup finals? This is the group stage

Terrible call..!!!!

Martha is the goat by a mile

Her 17th Women's World Cup goal secured a 1-0 win and saw her overtake Germany's Miroslav Klose as the outright leading scorer in either the men's or women's version of the tournament
