Beautiful music and a beautiful story combine in “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical,” performed Nov. 1-Dec. 31 at Marriott Theatre. Performances are 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. most Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturdays, and 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Sundays. Kaitlyn Davis plays singer Carole King, the writer of such iconic songs as “You’ve Got a Friend,” “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” “Natural Woman,” and numerous other hits with collaborators.
“So many of the audiences can see themselves in her story of being unsure of certain qualities of herself as a person that she grows into throughout the course of the story. She really takes charge of her life and finds her voice. I think that’s inspiring to the people who see it.” To prepare for the role, Davis read King’s memoir, “Natural Woman,” which she said offered her insight into the singer/songwriter.
