Marijuana use increased significantly during the pandemic in states where it is illegal and also in states where medical marijuana is legalized, according to the findings of a new study.

Nov. 9, 2022 – Marijuana use increased significantly during the pandemic in states where it is illegal and in states where medical marijuana is legal, according to a new study.

About twice as many people reported using marijuana in states where recreational use is legal, compared to respondents in states where it is not legal. But there was no change in usage behavior observed in recreationally legal states, with about 28% of adults reporting that they used marijuana both before and during the pandemic.
