, Qualley had to pull out of the series due to scheduling conflicts. The series will now look to recast an actress to star in the upcoming series. The report notes that the move won’t hamper the development of the project, as the show isn’t planned to begin filming until October.The limited series will run for eight episodes, and is “based on the true story of how Knox was wrongfully convicted for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher and her 16-year odyssey to set herself free.
The pair were convicted of the murder in 2009, but Knox was later definitively acquitted of the crime in 2015 by Italy’s Supreme Court of Cassation. The story of Amanda Knox is something that has been covered in countless films, documentaries, and podcasts. Most recently, 2021’s Stillwater is thought by many to be based on Knox’s story, something she took umbrage with when she accused Matt Damon and writer-director Tom McCarthy of distorting the facts around the case.
