Marches against gun violence are planned across Texas and the U.S. in response to the Uvalde school shooting.

James Thompson, state director of March for our Lives Texas, said he expects over 800 people to turn out in Dallas.

The event starts at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dealey Plaza, where demonstrators will then march to Dallas City Hall, with speeches beginning at 12:15 p.m. The lineup of speakers includes student organizers Naz Soya and Karter Stanton, Dallas ISD Trustee Maxie Johnson, and representatives from activist groups Gays Against Guns and Moms Demand Action, in addition to survivors of gun violence and educators.

My heart breaks for the families of those killed in Uvalde and protests are good but you know what would be better? Electing the right leaders into office-not the crazies like GovAbbott or CancunCruz or Cornyn-so that protests won't be necessary-VOTE BLUE to get something done
