Parts of northern and central Texas are expected to reach temperatures up to 115 degrees on Friday.

Parts of north and central Texas will be under an excessive heat warning for much of Friday. The National Weather Service urges residents to stay hydrated and out of the sun amid dangerously hot conditions that will increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.

'People should avoid spending extended periods outdoors, while those working outside are recommended to take breaks in shaded places often and drink lots of fluids.If anyone feels overwhelmed by the heat, they should move to a cool and shaded location. A heat stroke is dangerous and can be fatal. Anyone suffering a heat stroke should call 911.
