Map: See which states have passed critical race theory bills. This week, Texas became the 5th state to sign such a bill into law, and more than a dozen other states are considering them.

In a matter of months, Republican lawmakers in nearly half of the states have proposed legislation to limit the teaching of concepts such as racial equity and white privilege. In some cases, those concepts have been inaccurately described as “critical race theory” — a decades-old academic premise that contends systemic racism remains central to much of American life and its legal system.

While only a handful of these bills, introduced since at least February, explicitly mention critical race theory, they all contain similar language and goals, and deem teaching of historical racism and its impact on modern U.S. society divisive or racist. There is scant evidence, experts note, that critical race theory is being widely taught in K-12 public schools, as it’s usually introduced at the graduate school level.

"Any anti-racist effort is being labeled as critical race theory,” said Jonathan Chism, assistant professor of history at the University of Houston–Downtown and co-editor of“Many that are condemning critical race theory haven’t read it or studied it intensely. This is largely predicated on fear: the fear of losing power and influence and privilege,” he said. “The larger issue that this is all stemming from is a desire to deny the truth about America, about racism.

In some states, lawmakers have also sought to put limits on teachers’ ability to make references to The New York Times’ Pulitzer Prize-winning

The KKK hard at work here

That's funny as heck...crt is racist but it's all white people saying that. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

CRT started in a few universities in the 1970's---it sees together racism with already politics, with society, with culture. This was never in K-12, was never an issue---now some states have made a non-issue into an issue. So far 5 states and maybe 7 others---all Republican.

The NBA is racist. They rarely let white people play.

How is telling the Truth about the WhiteMan in his Criminal Enterprise called America Racist? It seems as if the White Man Hates the Truth. So he tries to hide it and cover it up likeCain did when he Murdered his Brother Abel. But you can't hide the Truth from God. It's coming out

Ask those people on the picture what Critical Race Theory is. They don’t know. It doesn’t stop them from waging moronic culture wars. Keyboard Culture Warriors.

Teaching a full and honest history of a nation is a sign of strong society. CRT is a concept about law and societal racism, it’s not something taught in elementary or high schools. Conservatives have used the concept to attack any teaching of race and history.

Anybody with half of a brain, and a little work ethic, can do the research, and find that the 1619 project is a complete fraud. Oh, but NBC is so biased and politically motivated that you don't care, as long as you get your fake news, brainwashing out there.

Teaching a nations history no matter how uncomfortable it may be for some is a must. The question is, would it still be considered teaching the history of racism if the behavior of those in power mirror the behavior of those in the past?

'I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.' - Martin Luther King

Honestly, I can tell you now this is going to end up in a debate that is going to drive me nuts. Because it's not going to be logical, it's not going to be a calm and reasoned discussion. It's going to end up like everything else in this country, hysterical and angry.

It is poison. Only people who defend are communist operative.

I’m extending an olive branch. Check my Tweet history; I am a reasonable person and will not be an ass if I say I won’t be an ass. I’ve even apologized on Twitter—I know, I deserve a medal. I’m against CRT. But I could be mistaken. Will someone have an honest convo with me?

Can’t fix stupidity.

Shameful.

CRT has NO business being taught in our schools!

Confront the ugly past and move on for a better future for all.

Here you go conservative activist law firm parents ⬇️ you’re welcome 😌 hotvickkrishna 🔥

95% of the people who oppose it couldn’t even tell you what it is…

So why was the civil even fought from your point of view?

I would love a poll of all the people in those states, who was taught or heard about TULSA, OK before this year.

I've never understood why a parent would choose to have their child remain uneducated. Knowledge is power. They are depriving their child of that power. It's alarming what a person will allow their hate to do to themselves, but even more so, to their child.

The irony of Juneteenth being made a holiday at the same time states are banning accurate historical content, should be lost on no one. Will we have an entire generation of individuals that have a holiday & yet have no idea why?

Imagine being this fragile

Last year republicans kept saying that if liberals tore down the statues to confederates how will be ever be able to teach the ills of racism. This year republicans are trying to prevent the teaching of CRT and thereby preventing any teaching about the ills of racism.

Crt =rascism against white. Whites the only race you can legally discriminate against

Southern Baptists pick president who worked for racial unityThe Southern Baptist Convention resisted pushes from the right and elected a president who has worked to bridge racial divides in the church The church... God is dead. Find your own salvation. This sounds like a good start. But the vote was close so, a split could still happen. It seems to be bad blood in the mix. Time will tell. ladybugdink I guess the Southern Baptists will have to gerrymander the pews a bit before they hold another election.
