He is captured

Alternate take- The thing about Joe Manchin is that if you look at him differently, he could be a *hero*. Everybody knows he’s really a Republican, but if he actually said so, Mitch McConnell would be in the majority again and we’d be in a lot worse shape. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Kyrsten Sinema Defends Senate Filibuster As Necessary For Her To Stay Politically RelevantWASHINGTON—Arguing the procedure was an invaluable legislative tradition that she would be hard pressed to do away with, Sen. Krysten Sinema (D-AZ) defended the Senate filibuster Friday as necessary for her to stay politically relevant. “For years, the Senate filibuster has been a critical tool that senators like myself have used in order to propel ourselves out of obscurity and into the spotlight,” said Sinema, adding that the ability to delay or block a bill protected a time-honored system in the United States government that had given her undue power based on a lack of proportional representation. “I admit our government has problems, but permitting Republicans to take the Senate floor to stymie a piece of legislation, which results in Krysten Sinema becoming the most talked-about senator in the news, is not one of them. Perhaps my Democratic colleagues should consider becoming relevant themselves, rather than removing the system that allowed my success.” At press time, Sinema argued that the best way to protect democracy was not by eliminating the filibuster, but rather by continuing to give her attention again and again.\n SenatorSinema onion don't miss SenatorSinema She won’t be relevant for long. Biden stuck between Manchin and GOP in infrastructure dealWith legislation that could partially define his legacy hanging in the balance, Biden is facing a largely hostile GOP and some Democrats - particularly West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin - who are making an infrastructure bill's passage in the Senate very difficult. Garrett Haake and Lisa Lerer join to discuss. To insist on bipartisanship when the GQP's idea of 'bipartisanship' is 'everything we demand and even then we'll fuck you up because you DESERVE what we do to you' is no different from treason. The GQP must no longer be allowed - physically - to obstruct an entire damn country. He knows there aren't Republican votes. So. Manchin doesn't want Democrats to advance key items on President Biden's agenda.
