Man tried to lure boys into bathroom stall at central Pa. park: police

A Lancaster man tried to get two boys to go into a bathroom stall with him at Long’s Park in Lancaster , police say.

Richard Gerth, 60, of Lancaster, was charged with two felony counts of luring a child into a structure after an incident a little after 7:30 pm. on June 22. The children, who were 5 and 7 years old, went into the restroom together without an adult. When they came out, one of the boys told a parent that a man, later identified as Gerth, grabbed him and tried to make him go into a bathroom stall, according to a criminal complaint.

While the boy was talking, the other parent went back into the bathroom with the other boy. The parent found Gerth in the back stall asking the children to come into the stall. The parent confronted Gerth, and he left in a silver car. Police stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver.
