A man was shot in the hand and torso Wednesday evening in South Shore.

At 6:31 p.m., the man was standing on the sidewalk in the 2500 block of East 78th Street when he was shot, police said. The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized.
