OAKLAND — A 62-year-old man was shot Wednesday night during an attempted carjacking at an East Oakland gas station, authorities said.The victim told police he was sitting in his Dodge Durango at the station when a man got into the vehicle and told him to drive.The suspect tried to drive away in the vehicle but was unsuccessful and fled on foot before police arrived at the scene.The wounded man was treated at the scene for his wound.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3326 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
