Police were called to Absecon store after the 37-year-old man showed a gun to the store's employees, officials said.

Police arrived moments later and ordered Whitted out of the store. At one point he reached for the gun in his front pocket and refused commands before police opened fire, officials said.Authorities declined to release the names of the officers who shot him, noting Pleasantville police were at the scene along with Absecon police.
