A man working on a roof in a suburb of Tampa, Florida, was shot and killed Wednesday after another construction worker accidentally fired his gun while exiting a truck, officials said.

Major Frank Losat speaks to the press regarding a shooting incident which left one roof worker dead in Hillsborough County, Florida, on may 9, 2019.A 44-year-old man was found in critical condition by authorities on top of a roof in Riverview, said Major Frank Losat with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. He was lowered from the roof by the fire department and taken to a local hospital where he later died.

"The person who fired the shot was getting actually out of his truck, slipped on a piece of construction debris at this point," Losat said."He was transitioning the gun from his waistband, his pocket, and at some point the gun is fired unintentionally." Losat said the shooter was fully cooperating with authorities. The sheriff's department is still investigating and could not say whether they would file charges.

Wow. What could possibly go wrong in the Florida schools with teachers carrying guns?

FL requires proof of a gun class in order to apply for a CC. My guess is that this person didn’t have that.

Guns making us all safer.

What kind of construction work needs a fucking gun?

Stay tuned for car accidents statistics.

'accidentally'

Sounds like a “Russian accident”

Only in Florida

Well thank goodness that teachers in Florida can carry guns in the classroom...

Unrestricted gun laws.....happy

Well if the guy on the roof had a gun, this could all have been avoided

The is the same state where they have passed 'Open Carry' laws & 'Stand Your Ground' and to arm teachers, right? The future is bright!

Okay, legal and lawful possession aside...just WHYYY!? Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean that you SHOULD. But out of curiosity, was he the 'good guy with a gun' we're always counting on?

I don't buy this at all

You have a big problem with people who do not know how to use a weapon, but it is interesting that you do not focus on that problem but on the instrument.

Someone has to pay the price for freedom

ZoomJenny At least with climate change the sea level will rise enough to flood Florida and hopefully wash away the ignorance.

Something is wrong with that state, man.

Florida. Remove the safety labels.

But, ya know, arming Florida teachers will go swimmingly. flleg flpol

Guns don't kill people... Stupid people AND guns kill people!

So wait, which one was the good guy with the gun again?

thank god dude had a gun on him at the job site something bad could have happened

Fun fact: there were 495 accidental deaths with guns in the USA in 2016 ((Table I-12) … but only 276 justifiable homicides by citizens with guns in 2016 (

If you believe that statement, you will believe anything

Florida.

Florida man slips and shoots coworker. So, he literally couldn’t stand his ground?.....

Maybe OSHA should have a gun management chapter in their construction site safety book.

😭😭🙏🙏

Hate to say it but there is a gene pool there that needs cleaning up.

should probably just go ahead and give everyone more guns. 😕

What’s the big deal give them more freaking guns. Americans don’t give a rat’s ass about innocent people’s lives. NRA wins again. Another notch on their gun butt.

Why, oh why. did he need to have a gun It was obviously not stored safely. Now an innocent man is dead and a family is in morning.

In the state where teachers can bring guns to school...

And this is the problem with unrestricted gun laws. Poor man
