A man from New York has been arrested after a religious leader at an Islamic center in New Jersey reported receiving threatening text messages from him, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said. The staff of New Brunswick Islamic Center, located in the town of North Brunswick, told police on May 26 that its Spiritual Director received multiple threatening text messages, officials said. Investigators consider the messages to be “credible” and “explicit.”
Detectives identified Bronx, New York resident Khaliyk L. Sellers, 40, as the alleged sender of the messages and he was arrested the next day by local police in Chester Township, Pennsylvania, authorities said.
