UPDATED: A man is in custody after Anchorage police say he 'was barricaded in a room after making threats with a weapon,” and downtown Anchorage streets are reopening after the large police response there.

Several downtown Anchorage streets were initially closed to traffic while a large number of police officers responded to the area.

Nick Weatherman, manager of Anchorage Pel’meni on K Street, said he noticed police blocking the area off at the end of his shift just after 2:45 p.m. on Friday. “And then a cop ran over to me, he said I should probably get away from the windows,” Weatherman said.
