Man fatally shot by police after shooting and injuring girlfriend at Arlington park, police say

ARLINGTON, Texas — A man was fatally shot by an Arlington police officer after the man shot and injured a woman at F.J. “Red” Kane Park in Arlington Sunday night, police say. No officers were injured in the shooting, police say.

"As officers were pulling up to the parking lot and exiting their patrol vehicles, the man displayed a handgun and fired multiple shots, striking the woman. The officers then immediately fired their service weapon, striking the man," Rosado said. Officers provided first aid to the woman and Boyd until paramedics arrived and transported both to local hospitals, where Boyd was pronounced dead, Rosado said.

Rosado said three officers were placed on paid administrative leave, and potentially a fourth who didn't fire a weapon. "We're still working with our partner agencies to figure out exactly what the scope is between the two," he added.
