Man driving during virtual court hearing for suspended license had license restored in 2022

A quick search of the court website showed the man's suspension had been lifted, but nobody caught the error until after the now-viral hearing that sent him to jail.Defendant Corey Harris stunned a judge when joining a video court hearing for a suspended license charge while he was driving.last week after a judge noticed the defendant, on trial for driving with a suspended license, was attending the virtual hearing from the driver's seat of a car — while on the road.

"Maybe I don't understand something. This is a driving with license suspended?" Simpson asked Harris' attorney, who confirmed those were the charges Harris faced."And he was just driving? And he didn't have a license." So when he was pulled over in 2023, the state system incorrectly flagged him as driving with a suspended license, leading to the misdemeanor charge against him. Records from the Saginaw County Court show Corey Harris's license was reinstated in 2022.
