When officers arrived, witnesses stated a black 1997 Toyota 4Runner appeared to"lose control" as it was crossing the overpass.
Witnesses then reportedly saw the 4Runner slide into the guardrail, go airborne, and roll down an embankment. Police said the driver was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Investigators believe he was traveling at"unsafe speeds" for the slick road conditions and that he wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
Just to set the record straight, snow tires ARE permitted in Texas. The only tires that are banned are the snow tires with metal studs.

This is not a snow event. It's sleet and ice. Snow tires don't work for these conditions.
Seat Belts are your friends
Drive slow?
Are Texans used to driving in the snow?. Hmm!.
People still running 50-60 on 35 through Fort Worth and it was solid ice, no sense
Can y’all quit playing with the weather please and thank you 😹😹😹😹
Why are people so reckless rip tho
After the deaths the past few years and the “obvious” rise in our taxes, you would think they would pour a little money into more salt trucks! it’s going to get any better going forward. To some a day off is great, to others it’s not possible and they are risking their lives
Unfortunately it was reported he was not wearing a seat belt. This is another tragic loss of life due to multiple circumstances. If you MUST drive now, please take precautions and ALWAYS wear a seat belt. It saved my life once in an accident caused by another.
For all the non native Texans posting…chains/snow tires NOT ALLOWED here. Crews pretreated over the weekend. We know the difference between driving on ICE vs. snow. Natives try to stay off roads vs. those who think they know how to drive here and do not. Black ice is REAL.
Ive never seen anything like it until I moved to Texas, they continue to drive at high speed on ice very impatient no reguard for others. Awful!!
Northern states have road crews that are far more prepared for ice and we Texans clearly don’t have snow tires or chains (but we need to). I go so slow in this kind of weather that I pull to the shoulder and let people pass me. I don’t want to lose control.
Stupid to drive today
A lot of these comments are disgusting a man is dead 🕊️
Sad 2 hear!🙏🏿
Very sad. Prayers for the family and friends
😲😲😲
Texans for the love of God, if you have never driven in snow then don’t do it. If you have no chains or snow tires go slow, stay far away from other vehicles. If there is ice, don’t think about it. You cannot maneuver your own two feet on ice. Skiers find it treacherous.
lol amazon still had work today too. Risked my life today so y’all can have your same day shipping
FFS salt the roads generously before snow rain or ice can even begin I’d hate to see Texans in northern states this is barely winter
Let’s see how fast we can go on ice.
that’s bizzare
I am assuming Texans don’t typically run snow tires. They make a HUGE difference. I saw a comparison video of a regular all terrain (not snow rated) and a snow rated tire and the stopping distance difference was like 75-100 ft. Either way slow down if you do slow way down if not
Stop speeding bet he was yt
carlaontherun
Geez. That’s sucks … but, He had to have been speeding.
