A man was fatally shot Friday morning after exchanging gunfire with two Escondido police officers in an Escondido mobile home park, San Diego police said. Neither of the officers was hurt in the incident, which happened around 7 a.m. on East Valley Parkway near Bear Valley Parkway on the east end of Escondido, San Diego police Homicide Lt. Jud Campbell said.
The man pulled out a gun, reached across his body, and fired 'multiple rounds' at the officers, the lieutenant said. Both officers fired back several times. At least one bullet hit the man and he fell to the ground near bushes. Campbell said the man then rolled over with the gun and again pointed it at the officers. One of them fired several more shots at the man.
