Man charged in Holmes County deadly shooting after crash

Anthony Hicks Jr. was arrested in Calhoun County, Florida and is expected to undergo an extradition process to bring him back to Holmes County to face the charges brought against him for the death of 25-year-old Marcus Kale Fournier of Bonifay.According to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office,

“We appreciate everyone’s patience as our investigative team continues to work diligently on this case,” said Holmes County Sheriff John Tate. “The pursuit of justice for Marcus Kale Fournier and his loved ones remains our top priority.” Sheriff Tate added that the investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing at this time, despite the formal charges being placed on Hicks.Hicks and his father were involved in a wreck on County Road 173 in Holmes County at around 4 a.m. on March 26 when the driver of the vehicle lost control while travelling northbound. Fournier witnessed the wrecked vehicle while travelling southbound and stopped to assist the duo, according to HCSO.

At sometime during this timeframe, HCSO dispatchers received an erratic phone call regarding the accident and deputies arrived on scene to discover Fournier on the ground, initially believing he was ejected from the vehicle involved in the accident. Instead, deputies found Fournier to have been shot and killed on the scene, with Hicks and his father still on scene when law enforcement arrived.

After being taken to the hospital to be treated for any injuries, Hicks and his father were released and Hicks was taken into custody due to an outstanding warrant out of Calhoun County as the investigation into the Holmes County incident was in its early stages.and receive the latest local news and weather straight to your email every morning.
