A 48-year-old Paterson man admitted Wednesday that he sexually assaulted a child at the minor’s home multiple times for over three years, authorities said.and Paterson Police Department on July 20, 2020 after the they were informed of the abuse and detectives interviewed the child and several witnesses, the office said in a statement.
The abuse took place at the child’s Paterson home on numerous occasions between August 2014 and November 2017, officials said. Following the investigation, Jose Elmer Enriquez, was arrested on July 23, 2020 and charged, the office said. On Wednesday, Enriquez pleaded guilty to sexual assault and now faces 12 years in state prison, authorities said. He will be required to register as a sex offender once he is released.
