'This has demonstrated, in a way, just like, d*mn, those eight years weren't for nothing.'

, which follows Michelle Obama's journey as the author of her wildly successful memoir of the same name, officially hits Netflix today, May 6. Ahead of its release, shared that there's an additional scene in the film, directed by Nadia Hallgren, that features Sasha praising her mom. "I'm excited for her to be proud of what she's done, because I think that that's the most important thing for a human to do, is be proud of themselves," she says in the film.

Malia goes on to note how special it is that even after her mother's time in the White House, there continues to be support for her message. "This has demonstrated, in a way, just like, d*mn, those eight years weren't for nothing, you know? You see that huge crowd out there? And that last speech you gave," she says.

It's clear based on the book's success and the continued excitement for the documentary that many are indeed still excited to hear from Michelle Obama. And as Obama previously shared in a message to viewers, she too is excited to share this part of her life: "It’s hard these days to feel grounded or hopeful, but I hope that like me, you’ll find joy and a bit of respite in what Nadia has made.

The Only Obamas I Want to Watch a Documentary About Are Sasha and MaliaOn Wednesday, the Michelle Obama documentary Becoming premiered on Netflix, and survey says... it’s fine. The documentary largely follows Michelle on a 2018 book tour of her autobiography—also called Becoming—and acts more of a companion piece to her bestselling book than a revealing documentary bursting with new information about Michelle’s life before, during, and after the White House. But one thing is clear: Sasha and Malia Obama are a lot more intriguing than their parents at this point. Heard that! Never like Barack or Michelle but they got some good offspring 😍 Pass
