The pay gap between male and female doctors is costing women more than $2 million over their medical career.
It’s also a reminder of the long-term money tolls for pay gaps that persist across all professions. Last year, women working full time made 82 cents for every dollar a man earned, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. “The gap started with men making almost $170,000 on average compared to the $127,000 salary that women earned.”
As result, it was “unlikely to contribute to the entirety of the observed differences in income,” they said.
And? Women should learn to negotiate.
Seriously? I feel very surprised and disappointed. In 2021?
Does this include which types or doctors and hours worked?
Before making assumptions, males works more hours, females takes maternity leaves, and there is not department to department comparison such as plastic surgeon to plastic surgeon or cardilogist to cardiologist. Only surgeons, medics etc. I don’t think there is a huge injustice.
