Major drug companies cap asthma medication costs at $35 per month

Major pharmaceutical companies have agreed to cap out-of-pocket costs for some asthma patients at $35 per month, a move that offers relief but doesn't fully address the larger issue of high drug costs.Patient Kenny Mendez said an asthma attack is 'like breathing through a straw.''You're laboring, you're not getting a full breath,' Mendez said.'When you don't take your medication you can end up in the hospital, the emergency room or even die.

Bernie Sanders declared in March, reacting to the news that the companies capped their prices following pressure from the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee he chairs.'Big pharma's able to charge Americans significantly higher prices and pad their profits,' President Joe Biden stated at a White House event in April, criticizing the practices he says pharmaceutical companies use to restrict access to their products.
