Dr. Pei Wang, an AI expert, claims that mainstream AI research has moved away from its original goal of creating machines as smart as humans. Pioneering scientist Geoffrey Hinton prefers the term 'superintelligence' for AGIs that surpass human intelligence.

Mainstream AI research has deviated from its original ambitious vision of artificial intelligence, according to Dr. Pei Wang , who teaches an artificial general intelligence class at Temple University. He believes that the field has turned away from the goal of creating machines that are as smart as humans.

On the other hand, pioneering AI scientist Geoffrey Hinton prefers the term 'superintelligence' for AGIs that surpass human intelligence.
