Mainland China virus cases rise again after earlier decline

China's coronavirus death toll on Sunday have surpassed the number of fatalities in the 2002-2003 SARS epidemic, but fewer new cases were reported in a possible sign its spread may be slowing as other nations step up efforts to block the disease.

Meanwhile, the mother of a physician who died last week in the hardest-hit city of Wuhan said she wants an explanation from authorities who reprimanded her son for warning about the virus. Warmer weather will reduce the virus’s ability to spread and bring people out of enclosed spaces where it is transmitted more easily, Lipkin said. Japan reported six more cases among 3,700 passengers and crew aboard the quarantined cruise ship Diamond Princess, bringing the number of infections on the vessel to 69. The new cases are an American passenger in her 70s and five crew members — four Filipinos and a Ukrainian. Spain confirmed its second case in Mallorca, a popular vacation island in the Mediterranean. The first case was a German tourist diagnosed a week ago in the Canary Islands off northwest Africa.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong began enforcing a 14-day quarantine for arrivals from mainland China. The territory’s chief executive, Carrie Lam, has refused demands by some hospital workers and others to seal the border completely. The government of the surrounding province of Hubei it will pay subsidies to farmers, other food producers and supermarkets and give tax breaks to companies that donate to anti-virus work, the official Xinhua News Agency said. It said overtime for employees of companies making medical supplies will be subsidized.

This is only the beginning. Chinese Government has failed.

🤔Then why is their reports from locals that there is a possible death penalty in place for people that violate quarantine and why are they locking people into buildings? This is a highly contagious virus, if it wasn’t 40 members of a hospital treating it wouldn’t be infected.

In a city of millions yaw want us to believe only 20k got sick from it and 800 died? They are mass spraying cities, have a possible burn pit for bodies and built a quarantine 'hospital' in 8 days. Someone has to do some actual journalism.. please

Complete failure by the press on this. Parroting bogus numbers the CCP puts out. The deaths and cases are exponentially higher than what you are reporting.

The daily death toll from the virus in mainland China keeps rising. On Friday, it topped 80 for the first timeA total of 86 people in mainland China died from the Wuhan coronavirus on Friday, according to the country's National Health Commission (NHC). That was the highest single-day death toll since the Chinese authorities began issuing daily updates. From what I've heard, there are far more than that. But, because people are not being diagnosed as having the virus, they are not being counted as deaths related to the virus. China does not have enough medical staff and capability to handle all those infected. God help people in China, IN JESUS NAME... AMEN.
