Some residents along the Magnolia River want sewer service to replace their septic systems, which they say aren’t suited for their needs. Others argue that installing sewer lines so close to the river runs the risk of contaminating it.

Universal Images Group via GettyIt seems as though no community in Baldwin County is exempt from debates about growth, infrastructure and the environment.

On Tuesday, the Magnolia Springs Town Council will vote on whether to adopt a franchise agreement with BCSS and an ordinance that allows sewer service in the town. No resident of Magnolia Springs has to sign up for sewer service if it passes, Councilman Bob Turner says, but it gives residents the option. Without the franchise agreement, Baldwin County Sewer can’t operate in the town, Gerry McManus, the service’s CFO and controller, says.
