A magnitude 4.1 earthquake was reported Saturday at 11:33 a.m. Pacific time four miles from Fortuna, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The earthquake occurred 14 miles from Eureka, Calif., 15 miles from Arcata, Calif., 23 miles from McKinleyville, Calif., and 82 miles from Redding. On Tuesday a magnitude 6.4 earthquake jolted Humboldt County, leaving at least two people dead, tens of thousands without power and widespread damage in its aftermath.Advertisement
An average of 25 earthquakes with magnitudes between 4.0 and 5.0 occur per year in California and Nevada, according to a recent three-year data sample.to the USGS.
