Lululemon is betting more men want pants that look like dress pants but feel 'like sweatpants”

Lululemon Athletica Inc. built its brand by convincing women to wear its pricey yoga pants, even when they weren’t headed to the gym. These days, the company says its most promising customers are men.

Lululemon is betting on men like Joseph Frilot. The 28-year-old middle-school teacher says he had been looking for slacks that “looked like dress pants but felt like sweatpants” when he found them at the multibillion-dollar brand. He bought a pair.

That’s very interesting. As we all know, sweatpants are much more a state of mind rather than an article of clothing. In fact, they are similar to couches in helping people melt the stress away, reach a state of comfort, and of course, support their lumbars. couchesaretight

Men just want something which makes it easy to get to the genitalia!

lululemon I’ll take a full suit please

Their pants are great, but Im not shelling out $128.

The well dressed male in yr 2260......

Horatio has 3 pair. They are great, they look like a modern casual pant and can easily be worn in most any circumstance where you might previously have worn a pair of khakis or jeans, i.e. any time a tie is not required or you can go one step below a suit.

Hilarious

And you will pay dearly for that feel.

To fans of these types of concepts, Uniqlo is also doing sweatpants that look like jeans.

Betabrand isn't this literally you?

The modern man: • wears sweatpants that look like trousers but feel like sweatpants • wears untucked shirts designed to be untucked based on shirts you tuck in • wears a watch that looks like a watch but acts like a phone • wears a $65 cord to make his headphones corded

Ahead of the lululemon earnings call we checked in on the retailer through the lens of consumer favorability. $LULU

Please please don’t do this . I travel for work and already see so many young women wear this when traveling I just couldn’t stomach seeing guys in these 🤯🤮

No thank you

Spoiler alert—they are called golf pants, men love them—uphill battle for lulu.

Duh

i’ve seen dress pants crossed with joggers before and i’m still traumatized

lululemon is absolutely right and making a great bet. I'm officially on record as saying this will only end up doing very well for them. extremely well. -man

My husband would be thrilled

I would like to meet the person on there marketing team that saw the data correlating to this.

Just do in masculinity altogether & be done be with it!

I’m in.

Can’t stress how true this is and how smart of Lulu to realize the opportunity of this growing market.

How 'bout NO.

These are game changers for work travel

All day, every day. ABC pants (and shorts) are by far the greatest I’ve ever purchased. Learned that from The Doctor, matthewfraiz. Like draping yourself in velvet. lululemon

Safe bet. Make them transparent, too. Lol

spot on

I agree

As long as we never see the return of acid washed Jorts for men it’s all good

Not at the price they're asking.

Pro tip: we do

Whatever twisted point those savages are making, it was hardly necessary to cut all those men in half to make it.

Also betting that we prefer to pay directly through the nose...but damn, they’re comfy!
