Perkins, who’s tied for second in the Southeastern Conference with eight sacks, will show Aggies up close and way too personally what they missed out on when No. 5 LSU plays at A&M on Saturday night — making what’s been a tough season for the Aggies perhaps even more rugged. “We were talking about how A&M might be a powerhouse really soon,” Perkins told 247Sports.com during the recruiting process. “ if everything goes how it’s supposed to go, they have all the pieces in place.”

Fisher’s “one who got away” admission was mindful of when then-A&M coach R.C. Slocum said the Aggies just flat “missed” on their evaluation of Austin Westlake High quarterback Drew Brees in the 1990s.Brees went on to set records at Purdue and win a Super Bowl with the New Orleans Saints. A big difference in the most recent recruit who “got away” is the Aggies dearly wanted Perkins — and it’s been especially evident over the past few weeks why.
