Kelly returned to Scotland after a second-place finish at the worlds, but returned to Swift Current only a week later to spend more time with Jerrod without the stress of competing in an event.“It has become such an infamous story with people involved in the curling world,” Jerrod said. “Curling fans are so passionate about it that so many people still know and remember that story.
Kelly said that she is first curler from Scotland to qualify for the Canadian women’s curling championship. The 2023 Scotties Tournament of Hearts is Feb. 17-26 in Kamloops, B.C. “I’ve always been amazed at the sacrifice curlers make in terms of family time in order for their passion for the game,” he said. “It felt pretty good to see that some curlers who often sacrificed their love of curling for their family were rewarded this weekend.”
“For us, that’s who we knew that we would compete against at the worlds so our eyes were always on the Scotties,” she said. “There are always such great crowds and it seems like so much fun. Everybody’s wearing their hearts and there’s just such a big deal around it. I’m actually really nervous because it will be my first time representing somebody else besides Scotland.”
