The Louisville Metro Police Department is seeking to block the release of records in the Breonna Taylor case, per a new court filing.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The news media is more interested in publishing stories than allowing a fair and thorough investigation, the Louisville Metro Police Department arguesThe Courier Journal sued Louisville police in May, demanding the immediate release of the department's investigative file into the fatal police shooting of Taylor, 26, on March 13.

"Once the toothpaste is out of the tube, it will be impossible to put it back in," the Jefferson County Attorney's Office, which is representing LMPD in the suit, wrote."To accept CJ’s position, one can only imagine the floodgates that will open if media outlets can insist on monitoring criminal investigations in 'real' time simply because they are curious about what investigators are learning from day to day. Or because media wishes to have video for its newscasts.

The department's filing says the issue is not if The Courier Journal will be able to access the records, but when. "It is just common sense that the earlier in an investigation, as evidence is coming in and being analyzed, the more speculative and less concrete will be the risk of harm, particularly when the facts and details are subject to conflicting versions," Guagliardo wrote.

Weird that some black lives matter and some literally don't matter at all.

Gee, I wish I could block evidence because of how it would change public perception of me.

Wonder why they would do that?

Perhaps if liberals rioted and looted some more? That did wonders for Minneapolis.

'Hurts impartial investigation'? What about everytime they arrest someone, they announce it on TV and do try to discredit the person charged prior to going to court. And its not only in Louisville, they do this shit against people hundreds of times a day.

course they are, cowards.

See what answers are given. Then go from there. FYI TheJusticeDept Thats how it's done. Accountability And they must asnwer 100% honestly as a court order. If it's good or not reason.

Of course they are bc they are GUILTY af.

They have lots to hide.

Uhhhh, that seems fishy as F.

We know what happened..... you can’t hide it

Seems to me this is hiding their guilt. Cover-up

Just like the police can be criminally charged for their misdeeds so should the Mayors of NY and Chicago others be criminally liable for their mismanagement & neglect that has cost lives.

louisvillemayor Louisville will do anything to escape responsibility for killing Breonna Taylor. Why haven't all police officers been charged? Where is the body cam video? Why did they leave her without providing medical aid? BLMLouisville GoCards

Well that's not shady at all.

Opinion | Breonna Taylor's violent death highlights the dangers of racist gentrificationThe increased peril Blacks seem to face in gentrification pressure areas reveals a troubling relationship between policing and the protection of white property values. THINK This Headline is a joke correct? They just killed, that would be BLM supporters, more people in Chicago last night then cops killed in a year? Remember BLM! THINK I still think they should make a law putting a time limit and consent form for the freedom of press. You guys get a lot wrong and cause a lot of damage and death. No matter good or bad, you should have to get written consent from everyone involved and if you do it anyways, fines THINK cops used no-knock entry on the wrong house while looking for a violent criminal. Seems a reach to say it’s racist
