The main focus of research is to identify novel pathways and mechanisms in neural control of the heart, neural remodeling, and neuromodulatory therapies for treatment and/or prevention of cardiovascular disease. The candidate will spend the majority of their time performing research and is expected to present their work at laboratory meetings as well as departmental and scientific conferences in addition to publishing their findings.
Changes in the autonomic nervous system significantly contribute to sudden cardiac death and progression of heart failure. The project is focused on testing cutting edge neuromodulatory approaches for treatment of arrhythmias and heart failure in-vivo.
The candidate is expected to perform essential experimental techniques including in-vivo surgical survival and non-survival procedures, neural and cardiac electrophysiological recordings, tissue harvest and clearing , molecular biology assays, single cell sequencing, and high-resolution confocal imaging.• Contribute to training/supervision of students and technicians in the lab
Candidates with a strong background in neuroscience, physiology, molecular biology, cardiology and/or related disciplines are strongly encouraged to apply. Interested candidate should send a copy of their CV along with a paragraph on your background and training and research experience to Marmar Vaseghi (I'd like to receive career advice, updates and information from Nature Careers and Nature Portfolio, part of Springer Nature Limited. When you apply for a job we will send your application to the named employer, who may contact you.
