A previously fit and healthy teenager has missed almost two years of school due to long Covid.
Hayden, from Elvington, near Dover, says his life "completely changed" after he caught Covid in December 2020. The 15-year-old once enjoyed sports such as swimming and judo, but must now use a wheelchair, and is largely bedridden with symptoms such as severe fatigue."It's like I've woken up and I've run a couple of marathons."She said: "It's like my child is on the subs bench and he's just watching his childhood being played out.

What's more worry the government don't see long covid as a disability I've had flu cold like normal plenty times before covid .when I got covid it made more I'll then I've ever been .I have asthma pump take migraine pills suffer callapsing still manage to work .So it is real .

Poor lad he's missed lots of social & sport activities too. Long covid is real, many are affected. The fatigue is like a sedative, no amount of sleep helps, the smallest activity causes a crash which makes you feel like u've been poisoned & hit by a truck

I have told them long covid is just covid not cleared from us until NIHRtakepart start doing proper research this kid will be in that chair for years, I have told them I am willing to do tests, but so far nothing, research that's a bloody joke.

I've missed two years of work but at least I'm in my thirties. Sucks for these kids, and for those with other health and chronic conditions. Can we get some meds trialled? There's absolutely nothing at the moment.

We have tools to reduce pathogens such as covid, dust & allergens that can trigger asthma from indoor air with air filters like the CorsiRosenthalBox . Let’s hope campaigns such as this from LibDemPatrick will mean more children are protected & keep well
I’m grateful bbc are sharing information of how harmful covid can be for children. I’ve followed LongCovidKids throughout as a good source of info on this topic, luckily my 👧 haven’t needed the excellent support they also offer families.
1/ I see a pattern w/ BBC news pieces only reporting long Covid symptoms of fatigue or brain fog. Why no acknowledgement of the wide array of symptoms? I have long Covid & yes, I have fatigue, but my most scary symptoms have been things like new onset chest pain, tachycardia, ...
