It’s all part of a push to get Lola back on the global mapSo, who had this one on their 2024 prediction sheet? In an announcement today, Lola Cars revealed it’ll enter season 11 of the electric Formula E world championship – and it’ll team up with Yamaha in a multi-year technical partnership.
‘Lola Cars has a decorated history of success in chassis and aerodynamic design,’ said Mark Preston, Motorsport Director of Lola Cars. ‘The partnership is the first of several major projects planned to re-establish the British company as an industry leader in sustainable engineering and motorsport, strategically focusing on three areas of electrification, hydrogen and sustainable fuels and materials.’Yes, really.
Whilst Formula E does use spec bodywork, suspension components and batteries, the rest of the powertrain is designed and engineered by individual manufacturers. Lola and Yamaha’s car will debut in the 2024/25 season, coinciding with the new Gen 3 Evo platform.
