LIVERMORE — A 15-year-old girl from Richmond was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound in a car in Livermore, and police are investigating the case as a homicide, authorities said.
Detectives are investigating the circumstances and possible motive of the death, and have a “person of interest” in custody, police said in a statement Saturday. Just after 8 p.m. Friday, Livermore police officers were sent to the area of Collier Canyon Road and Meritage Common in north Livermore after receiving a report about an unconscious girl with injuries.Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department personnel were also sent to the area, which is near homes and Las Positas College, and the girl was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police said detectives believe the apparent shooting was an isolated incident. The death marks the city’s first homicide in 2022. Anyone with information about the case can call the Livermore Police Department’s anonymous tip line at 925-371-4790, police said.
