As firefighters worked to put out the blaze, they found a man in his 60s unconscious on the second floor. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

"I unplugged the scooter, I was on the first floor. As I'm putting cereal in a bowl, I heard an explosion, like gunfire. As I open the door to the second floor, those stairs were already on fire in seconds.

It was a disaster," Jose Corona said.Some of the other residents in the home were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. At least one firefighter also suffered minor injuries during the incident.

There are a lot of fires with Lithium-ion batteries because those batteries were made cheap using inferior parts from China and they didn't upgrade the BMS chip or safety features. I bet they didn't leave the scooter in a cool area of the house. Stop buying cheap scooters!!

Also, always keep the battery in a cool area.

I never had any issues with my name-brand scooters, esk8, e-bike, or electric unicycle. Because all the batteries are built by top battery companies. Stop buying scooters and e-bikes from shops building their own battery pack using inferior parts and using modified chargers.

These e scooters are a menance.
