The primary goal is to investigate how liquids boil on various surfaces in partial gravity.

SwRI Research Engineer Dr. Eugene Hoffman floats in partial gravity while conducting the fluids engineering experiment during a parabolic flight.

The Southwest Research Institute, in collaboration with A&M University, undertook a series of experiments in parabolic flights to acquire insight into the complex boiling process for future space missions. “If we’re going to establish a sustained presence in space or on other worlds, boiling is a necessity,” Supak said.
