The library board’s letter notes the new library is to be built to an accessibility standard certified by the Rick Hansen Foundation. The letter requests that parallel parking in the area be converted to angle parking, with the “streetscape aesthetic” designed to match what’s already in place further south on Second Avenue.Article content

City staff note that a redesign would likely have to incorporate the two blocks between 23rd Street East and 25th Street East, in order to avoid a one-block gap in design between the new library and the rest of Second Avenue. Once a design is complete, council would still have to give final approval on whether to proceed with the project.Article content
