Letters to the Editor — Lakewood, DMN printing plant, John McCaa, Wise County internet

Many of the nation’s tollways operate in a handful of states. Unlike other states, Texas lags behind in toll discount programs.Readers defend Lakewood’s conservation district plans; are glad the DMN is continuing despite closing its printing plant; praise John McCaa; and point out Sen. Cruz did not vote for broadband expansion.

To that end, a team created a series of 18 meetings, inviting all the neighbors to cooperatively codify their ideas within a document that would serve the interest of all neighbors. Conservation planner Trevor Brown, chief planner in the conservation office of Dallas City Planning, hosted and so very patiently and skillfully educated us as to the possibilities, pitfalls and outcomes of our ideas.In meetings, we decided with a show of hands. A draft was created and sent to the city.

I have no idea whether the Lakewood conservation district’s proposed expansion is a good idea or not, but let’s let them work it out. Democracy is messy sometimes.
