Gas prices could fuel a return to public transitEscalating gas prices could certainly drive some Bay Area residents to take public transit. Yet for many others, especially those farther from transit hubs, the allure of driving wherever and whenever remains too strong.
It takes frequent operation, reliable service and well-planned routes to grow ridership. When transit agencies — not just big ones like BART — face pandemic-related operator shortages and concomitant service cuts, those linchpins seem Sisyphean. Don’t expect a full-on, or even three-fourths, return to transit ridership anytime soon. But those who do return, or even try transit for the first time, could save some serious cash.San Francisco Bay, the Delta and rivers such as the Trinity and Sacramento are important for the Wintu people. They rely on the salmon, eel and sturgeon as their food supply., which builds both the Sites Reservoir and Delta tunnel, becomes a reality.
The proposal will devastate the Wintu people’s way of life, San Francisco Bay and rivers. I urge Gov. Newsom to reconsider his plan.Bravo, Sacramento. The Legislature with no dissention passed
