The lethality assessment is helping domestic violence victims find a degree of safety.

South Valley Services said they’ve been using the assessment since 2015, and evidence proves it's saving lives.“We know the lethality assessment has not only saved lives, but continues to do so,” South Valley Services Josie White said.

South Valley Services development director Josie White said it also gives the victim a safe space to get help. The Utah County Sheriff's Office has also been using the lethality assessment protocol for years, but it was made mandatory for law enforcement last year.“It gives law enforcement and victim services providers what’s the best way to approach this, what kind of services do they need,” Sgt. Spencer Cannon said.

“Somebody may be in a situation where they haven’t been allowed out of the house much, or they haven’t been allowed to work much, or they have no control over finances, or access to finances.” Cannon said.New data reveals critical need for resources in Utah domestic violence responses, especially on Sundays
