Other Afghanistan veterans interviewed by The Associated Press said that, while the peace deal may not be perfect, it's time to end the war that began weeks after the 9/11 terror attacks. The peace plan calls for the Trump administration to initially draw down U.S. troop levels in Afghanistan from 13,000 to 8,600, with the remaining American forces withdrawing in 14 months.

“If you’re the Taliban, people have come and gone and invaded that place for thousands of years,” said Porter, head of government affairs in Washington for the group Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. “Genghis Khan has come and gone. They’ve got a long view of things.”

After reviewing the terms of the agreement, it appears the US and our partners are getting very little concessions from the Taliban, and Terry is getting a ton from the Afghani Gov. And personally, I don't know if either side will keep their word.

Eventually you have to make peace. You can't keep on fighting for ever.

What a waste of 20 years to hand it to the Taliban

We fought WITH the Taliban against the Russians and then WE fight them after! All they wanted is BOTH to get the fuck out! They aren't 'terrorists'. They aren't gonna come here! Just GET THE FUCK OUT! Now, of course, Trump IS admitting we 'lost'. So this isn't us winning.

We can fight them with contractors over there launching our drones to do strikes and controlling them from here, just as easy...

Veterans are stoked. Republicans are pumped. Parents of deployed kids are ecstatic. Democrats are dejected. Socialists are fuming. What a time to be alive.
