The older I get the more clearly I see that one of the loveliest things in this world is being tired and lying down in a good bed and going to sleep.
It's a great comfort, when fuming around during the day, to think that my familiar old mattress will be there waiting, and that I will be crawling into it at bed time and feeling myself drift off. Man, that is worth more money than I could make staying up all night. The old saw that says you can't catch up on lost sleep is a lot of balonus. The guy that thought that tale up was likely young and in a hurry and thought sleeping was a waste of time.
I remember having three days to visit an interesting city, once back in my early 20s. I decided to get the most out of that time, and temporarily swore off sleeping.
