Lenovo has honed this ThinkPad to excellence, but the price is downright silly.

Carbon line dates back to 2012, and now, in its 12th incarnation, the laptop has reached a level of maturityhas been honed to a fine point—yet it would be legitimately difficult to distinguish from the original. I’d know, because IThe song writ large remains the same as ever. This is Lenovo’s flagship ultralight, the business laptop designed to kill all others. It retains the same size 14-inch LCD that it has always had, with the weight now hitting 2.

Many other innovations here are incremental at best. I mean, when the brand starts talking about “new tactile markings” on the keyboard—those little bumps on the F and J keys—you know we’re getting close to an innovation terminus. There’s also a small ridge that juts out at the top of the screen where the webcam appears, plus a relocated fingerprint reader, but any other cosmetic changes are tough to suss out.
