, a former Justice Department prosecutor who’s now a criminal defense attorney in Florida, said the sentences would likely be run concurrently. And the odds of Hunter Biden spending time in prison for these charges approaches “zero,” said Serafini, who wasn’t involved in this case.Serafini, who spoke moments before the verdict was announced, said the prosecution had a strong case. They just had to convince the jury that Hunter Biden understood at the time that he was an addict and that he knowingly lied on the gun form during the purchase.“These charges are almost never brought in these circumstances,” Serafini said.
Both cases were seemingly resolved last year through a plea deal, which fell apart suddenly when a judge overseeing the case questioned some aspects of the agreement and lawyers could not come to an agreement.to the Justice Department for Hunter Biden and the president’s brother, James Biden, accusing them of lying to Congress during the Republicans’ investigation into the family’s alleged “influence peddling schemes.
