Everyone knows arena concession prices can be out of control.

LeBron James is one of the wealthiest athletes to ever walk the Earth, becoming just the second NBA player to reach billionaire status after Michael Jordan. But just because your net worth resembles the GDP of a small country doesn’t mean you’re willing to pay exorbitant prices for stadium snacks.

At the Los Angeles Lakers’ Summer League’s opening loss against the Phoenix Suns in Las Vegas on Friday night, James — who didn’t dress for the game and had a front-row seat for the exhibition, instead — was spotted on the bench snacking from a plastic bag that he apparently brought from home. While there’s nothing wrong with a simple man enjoying simple pleasures like non-price-gouged snacks, James is one of the most recognizable public figures in the country, and he can’t breathe without people taking notice.
